Winter Olympics Sochi 2014

Although we are thoroughly enjoying the fantastic weather we are currently having in the UK, we always love this time of year at Edgeriders for another reason. The trickle of arrivals of winter clothing into our store. We usually get the Ride and K2 deliveries first, and before the boxes become overwhelming, it is so exciting opening up the boxes and recognising the clothes we ordered 6 months ago! As we were thinking about this the other day we realised that there is going to be an added excitement this winter as there will be the 2014 Winter Olympic games, this year held in Sochi, Russian Federation.

A year from the success at London 2012, Edgeriders have really enjoyed seeing the buzz from the people of Britain becoming interested in trying sports and not necessarily to sticking to ones they have may have just tried out at school. When the owners of Edgeriders, Charlie and Jon, were mere school boys, they are the first to admit now that they sometimes felt quite left out as they just weren't interested in football or rugby.  Once they were old enough to plan and book their own holidays, rather than the typical lads holiday to Ibiza or Majorca, they headed off to the snow. This is where the buzz for attaching themselves to a board and going fast whilst doing some rad tricks truly began, some 20 years ago!

It appears that Naish have a new binding, I was at first skeptical having used bindings such as the Nobile IFS Kiteboard Bindings 2013 and the  more recent North NTT Entity Footpads and Straps; I mean how good  can bindings actually get?! The new Naish Apex Kiteboard bindings do no disappoint; they have just about as much adjustment as could be required for any size or shaped foot. This binding seems to have evolved beyond  its competitors with a premium binding that is available to everyone.

Difference between Cable and Boat Wakeboards

If you have decided to take up wakeboarding you have two main kinds to choose from - cable boarding or boat boarding. The difference is pretty simple but may influence the wakeboard to choose to begin with. So here’s the deal – cable boarding means that you are holding on to a tow rope attached to a cable mechanism that pulls you around a circuit on a lake or other body of water. Standard wakeboarding is generally used when you are being pulled by a boat and hence there is a wake in the boats shadow that can be used as a kicker for jumps and tricks - also the course you take is not fixed, unlike a cable session.
