Snowboard Rocker  – What’s It All About?

Okay so how much do you know about the shape of a snowboard? What’s that? You thought all snowboards were pretty much the same except for the size and the great graphics or designs on them? Allow us to correct you. The untrained eye may well think all snowboards are identical, but it’s not true. There are many different rocker shapes available – BananaDouble Dog, Flying-V, Flatline to name but a few. So what is Rocker? Well for the purpose of this explanation the snowboard rocker shapes have been broken down into 4 distinct categories -  Rocker, Camber, Flat and Hybrid(a combination of the others).

Booking Your First Snowboarding Holiday

So it’s time to book your very first snowboarding holiday. Where on earth do you start? Clearly it’s not a good idea to plan a dream snowboarding or skiing holiday to Aspen if you’ve only got the budget for somewhere in Europe, so get this sorted first. Once you have an idea of what you can spend, you should look for a resort that is set up for beginner snowboarders.

The Importance of a Helmet for Snowboarding

If you have a healthy respect for the snow covered mountains of your favourite snowboarding resort, or any other snowboarding resort come to that – you’ll understand the importance of the headline. Snowboarding without a helmet isn’t the smartest thing to do. You need to make sure you can protect yourself if, and very likely when you wipeout. And let’s face it snowboarders wipeout, even when they’re experienced and they’ve been doing it for years (snowboarding that is, not wiping out), even if you aren't the cause of a wipeout there is always the risk of another mountain goer careering into you or you colliding with another object such as a tree or rock that you had not accounted for.
