Les Deux Alpes, Home to “La Grave”

This resort is one of the oldest and best ski resorts in France, and has one of the largest skiable glaciers in the Alps. Located two hours from Grenoble and three hours from Geneva, this resort is a popular place for tourists to come for skiing holidays. This is a great place for all types of skiers from beginners to the experts. This resort is home to a ski run considered to be one of the best in Europe and only to be skied down by experts with professional guides, this is called “La Grave”.

The Slopes

Most of the ski runs that you can see from the resort aren’t nearly half of them, invisible from the valley; the world’s largest skiable glacier in the Alps is home to several more ski runs, available 365 days a year.

There are many little slopes for those who wish to practice skiing before venturing to the top of a blue slope making their way down the mountain. This resort offers beginners a painless and quick way of learning with nursery slopes and lifts locate within the village. The blue runs down the glacier offer a wide and pleasant way down, suitable for beginners who want to have a proper go at skiing. This is good for the intermediate skiers, that want to glide all the way back to the resort, there are a lot of long cruising runs located in the resort

La Grave

There are plenty of slopes for expert riders, with lots of challenging black slopes, but there is a main one and considered as one of the best in the world. La Grave is only said to be skied down by experts who are assisted with professional guides. Even making your way up to the top is terrifying; in its huge gondola that carries you 70,000ft up a mountain and drop you off above glaciers, crevasses and 1,000 cliffs. It is seen to be an extreme skiers paradise, did I forget to mention that the slope is filled with all kinds of obstacles as well as a known to have extreme avalanche danger.

Les Deux Alps is perfect place for snowboarders to really strut their stuff, with its excellent terrain park. This is great for beginners and Intermediate riders, but more advanced riders may find the park a bit plain. There is a huge array of jumps and rails for snowboards to play with, and let’s not forget the two half pipes which are located here as well.
